Professor Lotz

Professor Christian Lotz, Assistant Professor of Philosophy and IAH 231A faculty and member of the CIS-AH Advisory Committee, has been awared one the six 2009 Teacher-Scholar Awards in recognition of his devotion and skill in teaching. Professor Lotz has also gained respect as a scholar in his field. During the last years he has been working on the European tradition of philosophy in general, working mainly on Husserlian and Heideggerian philosophy, on Fichte and Hegel, as well as phenomenological concepts, such as affectivity, memory, forgiving, and the Lived Body.

Professor Lotz teaches a variety of themes at different levels of UG and G education: from introductory classes in philosophy and large interdisciplinary lecture classes in the humanities that deal with topics of general interest, such as our contemporary capitalist culture and philosophical anthropology to graduate seminars on selected topics and texts in Continental philosophy.
